On the floor

Let the record happen where the work happens

In a warehouse the work is done at the shelf, but the record is kept at a desk. That distance costs the same thing every time: goods move, paper piles up, and in the evening somebody sits down and keys it all in. Until then, what the system shows lags behind what the warehouse actually holds — and every mistake made during entry surfaces hours after its cause.

The same moment, two versions

The difference does not show up in a feature list. It shows up in how the same job is lived.

When goods arrive at the door

On paper

The waybill is checked by hand and lines are ticked off on paper.

On a mobile terminal

The barcode is scanned and item and quantity are matched immediately.

While picking an order

On paper

A pick list is printed; who picked what becomes clear only afterwards.

On a mobile terminal

The app guides step by step and every picked line is recorded.

When stock moves internally

On paper

Transfers often go unrecorded; the shelf is found from memory.

On a mobile terminal

The transfer is a transaction; where the material sits is on record.

At the end of the day

On paper

The data-entry round begins — and this is where errors come from.

On a mobile terminal

There is nothing left to enter; the records were created as the work happened.

Coverage is not everywhere in a warehouse

Connectivity can drop in a cold store, between high racks, or in a basement. The mobile app works offline and transactions are transferred once the connection returns. The person on the floor does not have to think about it.

What can be done from the mobile terminal

All seven operation categories run from the floor:

  • Goods Receipt
  • Materials
  • Shipment
  • Counting
  • Production
  • Outsourcing
  • Demand
