Let the system hand out warehouse work, not a paper list

Work handed out on a paper list leaves three questions unanswered: who is doing what, in which order to walk, and what happens if the job is left half done. Pickers tour the shelves from memory and walk the same aisle twice; nobody notices an empty pick face; received cases wait at the door. iyibir WMS turns warehouse work into tasks: every task has an owner, an order and a route, and the operator sees only the step they are on.

Task types

Tasks sit as a queue on the Tasks tab of the mobile app. The manager creates them on the web and assigns them to a person or leaves them in the pool; operators can also take tasks from the pool themselves. The Next job card gives the running job first, then the next one by priority and due time. If the manager turns on task interleaving, a task on the operator's way is brought forward while the head of the queue is not urgent, such as a pick on the way back from a put-away. The rule is fixed and set in the web panel: maximum detour, priority band, due-time guard.

Picking

A picking task is created from an order. Stops follow shelf sequence; once shelf coordinates are entered, the route is built on walking distance. When the task opens, stock is soft-reserved, so the same stock is never given to two tasks.

Put-away

After goods receipt the first button is "Put away". The system suggests a shelf and gives the reason in one line: the pick face first, then a shelf holding the same item or lot, then an empty shelf matching the ABC class. A quarantine shelf is never suggested.

Replenishment

A pick face gets a minimum and a maximum quantity. When its stock drops below the minimum a replenishment suggestion opens; once applied, source shelves are chosen with the nearest-expiry lot first (FEFO) and the task joins the queue.

Move

When a velocity-based slotting suggestion is accepted, a move task opens to take the goods to their new shelf.

Recount

If a blind count exceeds the variance threshold, a task to count the same shelf again opens on its own.

Warehouse counting

Wave picking

On busy days orders are planned as waves and split into batch or cluster picking tasks. Details below.

Wave, batch and cluster picking

Picking orders one by one works in a small warehouse; as order volume grows, the same aisle gets walked again and again. Wave planning groups the orders to be picked together and splits the tasks accordingly.

  • Wave template: a due-date window, customers and a priority filter define which orders go out together.
  • Preview: before release you see the orders, the task split, estimated walking and time, lines without enough stock and pick faces that need replenishment. The preview reserves nothing.
  • Release: tasks and stock reservations are created in one go; two waves cannot reserve the same stock or the same order line.
  • Cluster picking: each position on the picking cart stands for one order. At each stop the shelf, item and position number are shown large; the route strip shows the next stop.
  • Batch picking: the same item is picked once for several orders; at the end a "Split into orders" screen lists what goes to which order.

Mistakes stop where they happen

Each row shows a moment where a task can go wrong and the check that catches it.

  • Goods are put on the wrong shelf. The target shelf is scanned. An unexpected shelf brings a sound, a vibration and a short notification; a card under the scan field shows the expected and the scanned shelf side by side, and the flow stops. Repeated mis-scans land on the manager's exception list.
  • Goods were taken but the line was closed before they were placed.A line cannot be closed short while goods are in hand; they must be placed on the target shelf first.
  • The same confirmation was sent twice after a dropped connection.Confirming the same line again does not create a second record.
  • The expected goods are not on the shelf; the picker either closes short or goes searching.Pressing "Report short" first opens a decision card: up to three shelves holding the same item, nearest-expiry lot first (FEFO), minus what other tasks have reserved. Choosing one turns the remaining quantity into a new stop tied to the same order line; with no option, the shortage is recorded and appears on the manager's exception list as a short pick.
  • The task is done but the shelf in Logo is out of date. When put-away, replenishment or a move finishes, a relocation draft is opened for Logo and written on approval. If it cannot be written, the task stays on the exception list as "waiting for Logo record".
  • The picker is not at the shelf; the barcode is scanned from somewhere else.If the manager turns it on, after the shelf scan the two-digit check code on the label is asked: scanned, typed or spoken. The server checks it; a wrong one brings the wrong-scan warning and repeated errors reach the exception list.
  • A damaged or wrong item is on the shelf; the operator says so out loud and the information is lost. The operator taps "Report to manager" on the phone: reason, note, task, shelf and item are recorded. The report reaches the manager's exception list; the manager takes it and writes the resolution, and the answer goes back to the operator's phone.

The operator's own day

A personal "Today" card sits on the Tasks tab: lines per hour, accuracy and completed tasks. Each value is compared with the person's own previous days; there is no one else's data and no ranking. With voice guidance on, each stop is read aloud: "Shelf A 01 03, 5 pieces".
